Polygamy is never encouraged because of the aspect of being morally and socially incorrect. In case of the patriarchs, the aspect of polygamy has been prohibited theologically to control the power-seeking mentality of every patriarch to control/usurp land or women from different areas of the world. According to 1 Timothy 3: 3, there must be focusing on only one woman by every patriarch. The sin of lust and adultery can be committed when one indulges in polygamy. There had been no adherence shown by Solomon to God’s commands because of not encouraging and supporting the ways in which any man could have more than one wife. This is evident in Deuteronomy 17:14-20.
